Coconut Oil in Tea

If you want to find ways to include more coconut oil in your diet, try mixing coconut oil in your tea. It will be solid at first as it melts into your tea, but as you keep stirring it will begin to melt into the tea. Add raw honey for a touch of sweeter.

If you aren't used to putting coconut oil into your coffee or smoothies, you might want to start with half a tablespoon of coconut oil and gradually build up to 1 ½ tablespoons over time. If the smell bothers you, try using a lid or adding honey.

Here is an example of tea drink that not only tastes good, it gives twice the amount of antioxidants!

Green Tea with Coconut Oil Recipe

Green tea with coconut oil can build up your resistance to fight against viruses and disease-causing bacteria. This is because coconut oil has lauric acid that has very strong anti-microbial, anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties. Green tea is known to have high levels of antioxidants. It can increase your metabolism and potentially slow down signs of aging.

  • Prepare your cup of green tea like normal (you can also use black or other teas).
  • Add 1 tbsp of extra virgin coconut oil to your freshly prepared cup of green tea.
  • While the green tea and coconut oil is still warm, drink and enjoy its many benefits.

If you prefer to drink cold tea, add the coconut oil while the tea is still hot. Mix well to melt the coconut oil. Once the coconut oil has melted, take the cup and put it in the refrigerator to cool off. Enjoy it once it reaches a chilled temperature.

What Type of Coconut Oil to Use in Tea?

The taste of coconut oil tea and its nutritional benefits can vary widely based on the type and quality of the coconut oil you use. Here's why the quality of the coconut oil you use matters:

    • What you get from RBD (refined, bleached and deodorized) coconut oil is different from the extra virgin coconut oil like Skinny Coconut Oil.
    • Extra virgin coconut oil is the freshest, least refined coconut oil, which preserves the original state of the oil - just like Skinny Coconut Oil.
